It was the entomologist Georges Brossard, whom I met at a conference, who introduced me to beetle wings, or rather the elytra of buprestids, for their potential use in jewelry!
Their rich iridescent color is impossible to imitate. I then make the sterling silver frame in my workshop which evokes the shape of the beetle's wing.
All jewelry is carefully handcrafted in my workshop, located in the Matapedia Valley. The preferred materials used in the workshop are sterling silver and freshwater pearls.
Nature is an endless source of inspiration for my creative process. Indeed, we can find the sinuous curves and varied textures of nature in the majority of my pieces, and more precisely, those of the marine world (sea urchins, shells, fish leather, etc.!).

Originally from Gaspésie, Sonia draws her inspiration from two opposing sources: architecture and nature. Pieces that sometimes resemble the structure of buildings under construction rub shoulders with aquatic-themed jewelry, composed of organic lines. The jeweler also devotes herself to creating expressive pieces, which have been noticed in Quebec, but also internationally.
